Since expanding access to add social media profiles to Google Business listings in October, Google has introduced a new feature within business listings in Search. This new addition displays recent social media posts from connected profiles, enhancing visibility and engagement opportunities.
Named “Social Media Updates,” this subsection showcases the latest posts from linked social apps like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest, TikTok, and X. Businesses can effortlessly connect their profiles through the Google Business dashboard.
Google automatically populates these previews based on linked social profiles, although manual linking is encouraged. Additionally, Google may automatically add social media links to eligible Business Profiles in some instances.
This enhancement builds upon Google’s initiative from last year, where more businesses were empowered to incorporate social media links into their Google Business profiles, offering yet another avenue to showcase social profiles on Google Search and Maps.
This development enriches the context of Google Business listings, potentially amplifying interest in products or services. Given Google’s prowess in driving traffic, this update is a noteworthy consideration for optimizing your Google Business presence.
Bluesky’s emergence offers users a familiar alternative to X while potentially challenging the dominance of large corporations in the social media landscape.
